Akwa Ibom signs pact for development of estate

The Akwa Ibom state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an Abuja-based company, Nakachi Lauranti Limited for the development of a new Housing Estate in Uyo, the state capital.
 
The Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Ime Ekpo and Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Raphael Bassey, signed the document on behalf of the state government, while the Executive Chairman, Nakachi Lauranti Limited, Arthur Abara signed for his company.
 
Ekpo explained that the scope of work includes asphalt road network, power sub-station, and underground distribution network to every plot, water sub-station and reticulation to plots.

He said other facilities include, a central gas plant and distribution network, sewage collection network, central treatment plant, and fibre optic IT conduit network connected to every plot. 

He stressed that the proposed estate would occupy 167 hectares of land, consisting, 555 service plots ranging from 1,700 square meters to 2,400 square meters.
 
The Commissioner urged the developer to keep to the contractual terms, as the state government would fulfill its own obligations as contained in the MoU. 

According to him, the state government places high premium on quality accommodation of its citizens, hence, will not relent in its efforts to ensure that the project sees the light of the day. 
 
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Raphael Bassey, who was also a signatory to the MOU charged the firm to live up to expectations to make life meaningful for the people.
 
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Nakachi Laurenti Limited, Arthur Abara, assured the government of its capacity and readiness to deliver on schedule.
