EEC, ATEC bag N11.6 billion Borno govt road, bridge projects

Borno State Government has awarded contracts for the dualisation and construction of N11.6 billion roads projects in the Maiduguri metropolis.

Borno State Government has awarded contracts for the dualisation and construction of N11.6 billion roads projects in the Maiduguri metropolis.

The 5.324 kilometre dualisation of Ahmadu Bello Way-Mogoram-Monday Market Roundabout and Bolori-Mogoram junction roads are awarded to the Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) at N8.8 billion.

While 7.88-kilometre Ngarnam and Umarari roads was also awarded to Abtuse Tech Engineering Company (ATEC) at N2.8 billion.

Speaking at contracts signing event at the weekend in Maiduguri, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Ali Goni Lawan, disclosed that the projects are to be completed in 12 months.

He said that a monitoring and evaluation team had also been raised to ensure compliance to all the terms of contracts with the two firms.

He, therefore, warned that there would be no compromises on specifications and period of completing the five roads and a bridge.

The Managing Director, ATEC, Umar Sheriff Lawan, said the signing of the contract is memorable in the roads construction business for over a decade,” adding that the governor has confidence in the firm by re-awarding roads contracts at N2.8 billion.

He assured the state government that the roads would be completed by the end of this year.

EEC project engineer, Mr. Li Chao Qi, also thanked the government for considering the firm worthy of executing metropolitan roads and a bridge in the state.

“We’ll meet all the specifications and complete them for handing over by the end of this year,” said Qi.
