
AS prospective homeowners increasingly become prey to fraudulent activities in the housing market, experts have issued a handbook that would enable property investors take proactive measures to mitigate their own problems in this regard.
The handbook by Messrs Tobykemsworth Investment Limited, a property developer, which was launched at Brainfield Event Centre, Igando, organised by the firm, spells the ‘do’s and don’ts’ in real estate’s deals as well as intricacies involved in land transactions and buying of houses from the developers, among others.
Speaking last week at the “Home Launch 2015” event, where the book was launched, the Tobykemsworth’s Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Raphael Adekunle Moneyin, stated that the book became imperative in order to assist the unwary public that usually falls prey of the antics of fraudulent developers and land speculators.
Moneyin was of the view that many prospective land/home owners are less painstaking in make the necessary enquiry on what to do not to be duped informed the firm’s decision to embarked on the publication of the document as part of its annual public awareness event.
“Besides, we equally want people to benefit from our products that we packaged in a way that those who have never think that they are capable of own a home would have it with relative ease”, said Moneyin, urging the public to take advantage of the ongoing opportunity by investing with Tobykemsworth investment.
The company’s Legal Adviser, Dr. Akinola Akintayo, of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos (UNILAG), noted how unwary Nigerians are falling victim to fraudulent practices, or practitioners, who are not ready to do what is necessary to ensure that their clients have a secured tenure of their properties.
“It should be understood that it is the law that define title to a land. Law and legal transaction is to ensure that documentation is not only imperative, but would also ensure security of tenure and that is exactly what is happening in Tobykemsworth Investment”, said Akintayo, urging those who are in need of their personal home to take the advantage of the current offer by the firm.
