Mortgage banking CEOs’ retreat holds in Abuja

The Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria (MBAN) is organising its 12th sub-sector Chief Executive Officers’ (CEOs’) annual retreat in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

The three-day retreat has the theme: “Mortgage Banking Sub-Sector as a Tool for Economic Development: Increasing Home Ownership in Nigeria” and scheduled to take place from Friday, November 18 – 20, 2016 at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, FCT.

A statement by MBAN’s Executive Secretary/CEO, Mr. Kayode Omotoso said the forum is in recognition of the potentially huge contributions of the Mortgage Banking Sub-Sector to the development of the Nigerian Economy, coupled with the unfolding strategic roles that would be required to steer the Sub-Sector on the trajectory of development.

The retreat organized as an annual affair by our Association started in Year 2001 and had been held in the major capital cities of the federation that have played strategic roles and made significant contributions to the growth and sustenance of Mortgage Banking, Housing Finance and Urban Development in Nigeria.

It will also create a platform for the CEOs and top management staff of Mortgage Banks and Mortgage Brokerage Companies in the Sub-Sector to rub minds, exchange ideas and deliberate on issues that are strategic to the development of the Mortgage Banking/Housing Finance Sub-Sector in Nigeria.

Expected at the retreat hosted by the MBAN President, Dr. Femi Johnson include the Special Guest of Honour, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, who would deliver the Keynote Address on  “Mortgage Banking Sub-Sector as a Tool for Economic Development: Increasing Home-Ownership in Nigeria.

Other speakers are Director, Other Financial Institutions Supervision Department, Centreal bank of Nigeria (CBN), Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi presenting a Paper on “Developing the Mortgage Banking Sub-Sector Towards Sustainable Profitability and Viability: An Imperative for New Business Models and Strategies”; Director General of National Pension Commission (PENCOM), Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu; the Managing Director/CEO of Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC) Plc, Prof. Charles Inyangete and Ngozi Chidozie, Partner in KPMG Advisory Services.

MBAN is the Umbrella body for all mortgage banks licensed by the CBN to engage in mortgage business in Nigeria. Its main focus is to ensure the access to mortgage finance for provision of affordable housing.
