NIESV to unveil housing models at summit
AS the new housing minister, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola is settling down to tackle the challenges of housing in Nigeria, experts in the housing sector, under the aegis of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) through her faculty of housing is set to unveil some affordable housing delivery models via community development approach at her 2015 National Housing Summit, planned to hold in Abuja, this Thursday.
This was stated by the Chairman and Secretary oif the Faculty of Housing, Mr. Biodun Odeleye and Casmir Anyanwu respectively. According to them, community synergy guarantees access to land at reduced cost, access to finance, quality home ownership in organised estates with shared infrastructure and services, adding this concept has given rise to various housing clusters in the cities, thereby increasing activities in the housing sector.
They stated that the fourth edition of the summit among others aims at a very constructive engagement with stakeholders while presenting models for practice and optimal resources application in order to achieve the ultimate goal of an effective and affordable housing delivery for Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Professor Olumide Olusanya of the Department of Architecture, University of Lagos, would lead others to speak on the theme: Effective Housing Delivery Models Through Community Development Concepts.” Also to speak at the event are immediate past president, Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Mr. Bode Afolayan and CEO, Crown Estate Limited, Lekki, Lagos, Darlington Uzu.
Discussants are 2nd Vice President, NIESVs, Mr. Rowland Abonta; Professor Timothy Nubi of the faculty of Environmental Sciences, UNILAG; and Mr. Akin Olawore.
