Surveyor-General of the Federation (SGoF), Abuduganiyu Adebomehin has called for a National Geospatial Data Infrastructure (NGDI) to authenticate data and other information pertaining to land.

Adebomehin stated this while briefing the newly appointed Ministers of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa and Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo in Abuja.

According to him, many countries have developed their NGDI and they are not depending on the information being provided by Google, adding that the data being provided by the group in some cases are inaccurate because it does not have the correct coordinates.

He said his office is already working on the NGDI but currently hampered by paucity of funds, stressing that they will need adequate funds to secure server and other devices for an active High Performance Data Centre to store data in the clouds.

The SGoF commended the ministers for the concerns already shown by them and their pledge of support to the office.
