The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) has initiated plans for a strategic partnership with Lekki Gardens Estate Limited to unlock greater value for the country’s real estate and construction industry.

The proposed collaboration will focus on innovation-driven initiatives, talent development, and benchmarking best practices. Speaking during a visit to Lekki Gardens’ Chief Executive Officer, Dr Richard Nyong, NIQS President, Kene Nzekwe, said the partnership would support the upskilling of personnel involved in project delivery, infrastructure planning, and real estate development.

He noted that the NIQS Academy was established to deliver bespoke, industry-aligned training and certification programmes aimed at enhancing internal capacity and driving efficiency across the sector.

“As NIQS develops new tools and frameworks to improve cost management in real estate and construction, we would be honoured to engage Lekki Gardens as an early partner in testing and refining these instruments,” he said.

“This will allow your organisation to shape industry standards while benefiting from first-mover access to advanced tools for improved project planning and execution.” Nzekwe stressed that the company could serve as a benchmark reference for applying best practices in cost control and project performance.

“Through collaborative research and shared case studies, Lekki Gardens could help set national standards in cost efficiency, transparency, and performance tracking,” he added.

In his remarks, Nyong commended NIQS for its exemplary organisation and commitment to excellence, acknowledging the pivotal role of quantity surveyors in the construction industry.

He called for NIQS support in providing bespoke training for contractors, addressing skills gaps within the industry, and supplying qualified quantity surveyors for management and contractor roles. Nyong also expressed interest in partnering with the academy and sponsoring talent development initiatives.
