Ajayi--lycett-10-10-15-CopyFriends, family members, fans, colleagues and associates of the veteran actress Taiwo Ajai-Lycett converged on Tuesday in Lagos to celebrate the matriarch of the stage and screen as she clocked 74.

The honours party and special colloquium for the Professor Pat Utomi-organized the stage and screen queen of vast credits was held at the Centre for Values in Leadership (CVL). The theme of the event was: ‘Music, Culture and National Image: New Ways of Projecting Power’ and it was moderated by Prof. Pat Utomi who described the actress as a timeless stage and screen actor.

The colloquium attracted several key personalities including the playwright and culture communicator, Ben Tomoloju and top actress Joke Silva. Also in attendance was former editor of The Guardian on Sunday, Jahman Oladejo Anikulapo. In a short response, the veteran actress said: “Actors can change the world, they can change the system… we are actors because we want to project ideas, ideas that will change the world’’.

We gathered that there was plenty to eat and drink and heavy beat to shuffle to after the colloquium. Happy birthday Ma, from us here.
