A new ‘home’ for Pa James of Papa Ajasco fame

Help has come for the veteran actor Kayode Olaseinde, who became homeless recently as a result of a heavy flood that destroyed homes and properties in Oke-Isagun Community in Oke Odo area of Lagos State.

The actor, who is best known for living delightfully the role of Pa James in the television comic series by Wale Adenuga Productions Papa Ajasco and Company, has moved to a new home courtesy of donations by friends and colleagues, who rallied around the actor as soon as one of the children, Samuel Ajirebi, shared a distress message on the actors ‘homeless situation’ on his social media handles.

“I’m seriously sad right now. I get to think at times that, are we sure we have a government in this country? Look at what I met when I came to visit my family today; a flooded house due to an overflowing canal behind our street. To make matters worse, no one was at home to save my dad (Pa Ajasco). So, the old man and I had to be saving properties and scooping water out of the house. We have made several complaints to the authorities over the last ten years, yet no significant step has been taken to channel the water. And now, there’s no house for us to sleep in anymore. This is sad and heartbreaking,” Samuel wrote.

It took that message for colleagues to respond to a fundraising campaign to get a new apartment, a campaign that was reportedly spearheaded by the actress Lola Idije.

CelebrityExtra reliably gathered that the actor and his family have moved into a new apartment in an area in Lagos courtesy of star actress Funke Akindele, who according to a source, dolled out half a million naira “to move the actor and his family to a new apartment in a better area.”

Known to most lovers of home movies produced in Yoruba and theatre as Ajirebi, Kayode Olaseinde, actor, comedian and producer can be best described as an accomplished actor. From an innocuous role he played in 1977, Olaseinde, who plays the naïve and notoriously funny character called ‘Pa James’ in the comic series Papa Ajasco and Company has risen to become one of the recognisable faces in the Nigerian acting turf.
