All set for DJ Zinhle’s reality show
…Unveils Teaser Clip With Baby Bump
The Black Entertainment Television (BET) Africa has announced the start of its fourth female-led local reality show, Unexpected.
The show is featuring a popular Africa’s famous and inspiring disc jockey, Ntombezinhle Jiyane, who is better known by the stage name DJ Zinhle.
BET Africa has continued to showcase and uplift black women, spotlighting their amazing achievements in celebration of the Year of Black Women.
The show dubbed “DJ Zinhle: Unexpected” is a reality series that will not only entertain but also get fans to witness behind-the-scenes moments in the life of the award-winning entertainer and media personality. The show will also give viewers across the continent a glimpse into DJ Zinhle’s life from business to motherhood and so much more.
To give her fans a bit of what to expect, the famous South African DJ on Monday August 23, took everyone by surprise by announcing her pregnancy, with a teaser clip for her new reality show to premiere September 18 on BET Africa.
Prior to her revelation, there was rumour of an expanding bump. In a post on Instagram, DJ Zinhle wrote: “I have exciting and UNEXPECTED news for you this evening. Allow me to introduce my very own reality show coming to @bet_africa channel 129 this September!
“I know this is unexpected but I’m so excited to share this part of my life with you all! See you on the 18th, right? #BETDJZinhle.”
Speaking with The Guardian on Zoom, she said: “I’m super excited to share my experience now and partnering with BET Africa has allowed me some control in my narrative. It gives everyone a closer look into who I am, as a businesswoman, mom and public figure, which I think my fans are going to appreciate.
“I’ve never wanted to do a reality TV show, however, this time around, I wanted my pregnancy to be different, and I wanted to enjoy it with those whom I love closely but still have the opportunity to share the experience with my fans later.”
In the teaser clip on Instagram, DJ Zinhle could be seen showcasing a picture of her baby bump beside her partner, the award-winning producer Bongani Mohosana, with the caption “Thank you for celebrating with me and @murdahbongz.”
Zinhle’s reality show, supported by her close friends, Pearl Thusi and Nomuzi Mabena, is scheduled to be aired in 13 episodes.
