Arochukwu youths honour Iyke Kanu

Arochukwu Youths honour Kanu

The Arochukwu Youth Forum last Saturday honoured the Chairman of Classic International Magazine, Dr. Iyke Kanu, with a merit award as Onwa of Arochukwu Youths for his developmental strides in the community on the occasion of Grand Civic Reception for Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.

Iyke is an author, community leader, philanthropist and business mogul. Etokebe, as he is fondly called, Iyke shone like a million star, as he was visibly the cynosure of all eyes at the event.

Presenting the award to him, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa eulogised Etokebe for being a true son of Arochukwu and his unquantifiable contributions towards developmental projects in the community and youth empowerment.

The astute industrialist encouraged other sons and daughters of the community to emulate Etokebe’s philanthropic disposition to youths and the community.

In his speech earlier, Mao, who is Chairman of Senate Committee on Primary Health Care and Communicable Diseases, extolled Iyke’s virtues as a true friend and progressive son of Arochukwu, whose lifestyle is worth emulating by other sons and daughters of the community.

It would be recalled that Etokebe has been very active and supportive of Mao’s political career, especially his bid and victory to represent Abia North in the National Assembly.

In his acceptance speech, Etokebe thanked the Forum for the honour, encouraging them to look inwards for embedded strength and use them positively for their careers and growth of society.

He further admonished youths who thronged the Aggrey Memorial Primary School, Ibom venue of the occasion to eschew destructive tendencies and vices that could become menace to the society.
