Basketmouth, Bovi, Buchi, Others Take Over Live At Parkers On Comedy Central

The show which is schedule to hold at Parker’s Comedy & Jive, Montecasino, Johannesburg, will kick off at 8pm on Thursday March 26.  And highlights from the show will premiere on TV on Comedy Central on Monday, May 25 at 9:10pm on DStv Premium channel 122

Bovi CopyCOMEDY buffs in Nigerian are in for a real treat as the monthly stand-up comedy showcase, Comedy Central: Live At Parker’s will be headline by Nigerian comic merchants, Basketmouth, Bovi, and Buchi.

The second Jo’burg show of the new season will combine established and rising stand-up comedians from the Nigeria, with Basketmouth at the helm, Buchi and Bovi as support, while the Nigerian turntablist, DJ Master Scratcher, will make sure the fun keeps on going all night.

Basketmouth, is a leading light in the Nigerian comedy scene, making waves around the globe with his free-flowing storytelling and enthusiastic comedic performances. His profile has continued to soar, with huge demand for his comedy gigs both at home and internationally. 
 
A well-known actor, writer, comedian, MC, poet and producer, Bovi Ugboma, after studying Theatre Arts at Delta State University, served as a news reporter for NTA, before working as a personal assistant to actor turned politician, Richard Mofe-Damijo. 

In 2007, he became a household name in Nigeria, thanks to his hit TV sitcom Extended Family, which he produced.  His career picked professionally in 2008, and has since grown to become one of the A-list comedians in the industry, featuring in all major comedy concerts in Nigeria and a host of others overseas.
 
Known by his stage name Buchi, Onyebuchi Ojieh, is a composer, writer, and actor. Although he had dabbled in comedy some years back; his big break came in 2008, when he appeared on the Tee A’s Live N Naked in Lagos. This led to a meeting with Opa Williams, who gave him a spot on his Nite of A thousand Laughs, and the rest has been history like they say.

Speaking about the show, Head of Comedy Central, Africa, Evert van der Veer said, “It is a real delight to welcome back Basketmouth and other shining lights of the vibrant Nigerian stand-up scene to our monthly Parker’s fixture.”

He stated that the evening will feature the latest leg of the Comedy Central Open Mic Competition, with three up-coming comics selected to perform before the live audience, and potentially earn the chance to make it to the finals on Thursday September 24 2015.
