Birthday boy Yaw offers free eye treatment in Awka



As part of his 40th Birthday celebration on August 23, popular OAP-comedian Steve Onu, otherwise known as Yaw recently visited his hometown Awka, Anambra State, to provide free eye treatment to the old and poor in the community.

Yaw made the announcement on his social media; urging fans in Anambra, who are suffering from eye defect(s) or know someone, who is to participate and benefit from the free medical services.

The initiative, which was conceived under his flagship community project ‘The Yaw Naija Project’, held not only to celebrate his birthday, but to also commemorate United Nation’s World Humanitarian day; which both fall on the same date.


Staged at the Umukwa Village Town Hall, Awka, starting from 9am, treatments offered during the event includes free eye consultation/examination, provision of eyeglasses, and general eye treatment for the visually impaired.

The initiative was sponsored by Yaw Naija Entertainment, Five Star Music Group, Media Panache, Yaw Naija TV, Power Oil, Dear Africa, Minimie Chinchin, Cleanshield integrated Services.
