President-elect, Tokuboh Allison (4th right); Hope President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Hajia Abimbola Oseni; Matron Alhaja Omoteji Falilat; Past President David Emelike; Project Chairperson, Taiwo Adepoju and pregnant women beneficiaries with their gifts at the occasion in Isolo General Hospital.

The President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Rotary International, District 9110, Hajia Abimbola Oseni has assured pregnant women across the country that a section of the society such as Rotary International is concerned about them and ready to do everything that would lead to their safe delivery.

She said this at Isolo General Hospital where the club executed its Child and Maternal Health Project for the month of July.  The club gave to the hospital two baby weighing machines while sanitary towels including other items were also distributed among 40 pregnant women everything costing above five hundred thousand naira.

“Our gift to the hospital is premised on the need assessment carried out which revealed that the hospital is short of this machine, culminating into keeping babies that are born waiting when the few available  machines are in use.

“We believe that our gifts to the pregnant women would help them to maintain hygienic standard while admonitions  from the two resource persons in the medical line, engaged to address and equip them with safety measures against infections would be of great benefit to them.”

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Isolo General Hospital, Dr. Adejare Ijogun charged pregnant women generally to adhere strictly to ant-natal  precautions and be hygienic to avoid complications and infections as she also enjoined them to restrict themselves to conventional hospitals in case of any problem.

Speaker, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Isolo General Hospital, Dr. Olabode Taofeek told the pregnant women that keeping their children healthy, free from infection starts from the day they are born while the second speaker, Dr. Adeoya Babatope explained to them the danger of female circumcision.

The Project Chairperson, Taiye Adepoju advised the pregnant women to breastfeed their children for two or one and a half years so that their babies can be healthy.
