TEETH 4 TEETH … With Justin Akpovi-Esade

It is Dare, Not ‘Dear’, Madam Activist!
One thought it was only in Nollywood movies, you get to hear actors pronounce dare as ‘dear’; yes, most actors embarrassingly commit this error, so, it came as a rude shock to T4T when he heard the hijab wearing female activist, Aisha Yesufu, also commit this blunder.

Yesufu had been in a running battle with another ‘activist’ investigating journalist, abi na wetin dat guy Hundeyin be sef, after the fella allegedly threatened to ‘expose’ aunty Aisha. So, fiam, mummy Aisha ran into her room and set up her camera and ring light and flew off the handle ‘dearing’ Hundeyin or so, to ‘expose’ her.

All what T4T was hearing was… “Hundeyin, I ‘dear’ you to expose me, I ‘dear’ you…” Every other thing aunty Aisha said was lost on T4T because all what he kept hearing was “I ‘dear’ you, I ‘dear’ you.”
Madam activist, that word is pronounced DARE, not ‘DEAR’. You dare people, and you have DEAR family and friends.

Nor vex o, dem nor dey sabi everything finish, you sabi activist work, yes, but sha jus learn the difference between dare and dear and when to use either of the two.

TVC, Is It Worth It?
BEFORE the 2023 general elections, a particular television station was literally hounding the then presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to appear on a programme to make public his manifesto. Tinubu and his then campaign team declined. He won the election and he is currently the president of Nigeria. That is history.

Many, including T4T, found the conduct of the TV station very unprofessional because it was the first for T4T to see presenters of a TV station on a live programme calling on anybody to appear on a programme. What news outfits do is to make public their private efforts in contacting the other party, that is if the efforts were futile or successful, not throwing an open invitation for him or her to appear to be interviewed.

Fast forward to 2025, TVC, another television station is publicly calling on Martin Otse, popularly called VeryDarkBlackMan or VDM to appear on its programme for his own side of a story to be heard based on an allegation a comedian, DeeOne, levelled against him on a live programme.

VDM has been so miffed, he has been abusing one of the male presenters in reply to what he allegedly did during the programme. From reports, two open invitations have been sent to VDM. Well, while T4T may be uncomfortable with the style of the TV station, he is also wondering why VDM always stylishly avoids DeeOne every time he drops this same very damaging accusation and goes after the people he spoke with. When this same DeeOne said what he said (T4T will not say it here) at the Honest Bunch podcast, VDM left him and went after Nedu, one of the presenters. Pray, is VDM afraid of DeeOne or is there something the public does not know?

Nedu Talks Too Much, Perhaps
THE fallout of the war of words between VeryDarkBlackMan and Nedu was the latter’s ‘resignation’ from the Honest Bunch podcast. Some say he was fired and honestly, before his sack or resignation, T4T thought Nedu owned the podcast show, what with the way he was carrying on like a small ‘Idi Amin’ on set.

T4T did not like the way VDM tore Nedu apart days after DeeOne appeared on the Honest Bunch podcast to drop his damaging allegation. But Nedu deserved whatever he got. He handled the DeeOne interview in the most unprofessional manner that got T4T wondering what he learned at Wazobia FM as a presenter.

Nedu was gloating and leading DeeOne on as he made those allegations without incontrovertible evidence. Yes, VDM left DeeOne and went after Nedu, exposing some secrets Nedu shared with him when the going was good between them (that was a cheap shot anyway) and the owners of Honest Bunch saw Nedu as a liability and he had to be sacrificed to save the show.

Since then, several people have been coming out to say different things about what Nedu did to them.
Actress Yvonne Jegede had not too nice things to say about him. “The clips cut from my episode on that show (Honest Bunch) for promotional purposes were designed to attract trolls, and my brand was subjected to all sorts of dragging. While this was happening, Nedu, who was in my WhatsApp messages, asked me out. Even people flooded my son’s social media page cursing and swearing at him. The best time to kick a man is certainly not when he is down. I have forgiven him and genuinely wish him nothing but the best.”

Another fella, Ugo Nwokolo, a model, accused him of manipulating him to say “poor girls turn him on”. He apologised and recanted his words accusing Nedu of manipulation even after he allegedly paid him some millions of naira. Nedu is yet to respond to Yvonne Jegede and Nwokolo among many other allegations.

By the way, T4T never knew people pay money to appear on the show even though a certain Doctor from Ughelli, Delta State, in a video to drum support for Nedu and the Honest Bunch crew claimed his air fare and hotel accommodation were paid by the podcast crew when he appeared on the programme. He however said he paid for his feeding. So many people have been drumming support for Nedu also but T4T feels the broadcaster’s problem may be his mouth. He talks too much. Just look at all the things he allegedly told VDM about himself which he cheaply used against him!
