When you see actress and former beauty queen Ibinabo Fiberisima smiling from post to post, do not conclude that she has won a jackpot. No, the Rivers State born actress, environmentalist, philanthropist and founder of Miss Earth Pageant Nigeria doesn’t play bet.

The fair skin beauty may be smiling because she has successfully unpacked the 19th edition of the Miss Earth Nigeria beauty pageant, which she said looked almost impossible to hold this year as a result of the effect of the ravaging COVID-19. So, it was more than dream comes through for her when curtain closed on the pageant, which held on August 15, 2020 on a virtual platform.

Organised courtesy of Serendipity Media Limited but under the direction of its National Director Ibinabo Fiberesima. “It was one year which proved to be a challenging year to stage the pageant due to the extant COVID-19 pandemic,” an elated Ibinabo said shortly after the winner for the 2020 edition of the pageant was announced.

Slim and pretty Miss Gwenivere Chioma Ifeanyieze, a native of Enugu State, emerged as the Miss Earth Nigeria 2020. The new queen came tops from a pool of beautiful and intelligent ladies tagged Eco-Angels. As winner, Gwenivere or Gwen for short will have the privilege of representing Nigeria at the Miss Earth pageant. The Elemental Queens forming Miss Earth’s court include Olajumoke Becca Adetunji as Miss Earth Air, Chidiogo Mbanusi as Miss Earth Water, Tammy Andoya as Miss Earth Fire, and Catherine Beredugo Miss Earth Eco-Tourism. They make up the runners-up accordingly.

Miss Earth Nigeria was founded in 2000 as a yearly national beauty pageant in Nigeria to select its representatives to the international Miss Earth pageant under the theme Beauty For A Cause. The organiers began sending representatives to the international version of Miss Earth a year after the pageant was established in 2001. The 2019 winner was Susan Modupe Garland, a published author and an environmentalist, who represented Nigeria at the 2019 International Miss Earth Pageant in the Philippines and made top 10. The Nigerian representative this year will be Miss Gwenivere Chioma Ifeanyieze.
