COVID-19 tough on entertainment industry – Package AOC

Akinsebikan Olabode Charles, also known in the entertainment Industry as Package AOC is the Chief Executive Officer of Package Entertainment.

The soft-spoken beatmaker credited with fine-tuning brilliant sound has contributed to various hit songs. He spoke to Adelowo Adebumiti about how the entertainment industry is coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. He also talked about how some of the entertainers are planning for a post-COVID-19 period.

What inspired your choice of career in the entertainment industry?
Ever since I was young, I was drawn to it. I could sit for hours and listen to music, especially the heartfelt songs that told stories. I’m a storyteller and my music cuts across many genres, melodic and lyric-intensive.

Why the choice of the name Package AOC?
Package actually stands as my Trademark and the AOC stand as my full name Akinsebikan Olabode Charles.

How has your brand coped amidst the lockdown?
COVID-19 pandemic has been tough on all individuals and businesses. It has also taught us a lot. My entertainment company never stopped working, My team and I have been making good music and creating plans for epic events when COVID-19 finally subsides.

What is your opinion are the music contract mistakes most people make?
A common mistake that many artists make is that they do not communicate properly with their record labels. Always make sure you understand the contract that you are about to sign and be careful. Ask for an alternate opinion and discuss all clauses listed in the contract in detail to make sure you understand everything mentioned within.

Who is Akinsebikan Olabode Charles?
I was born in Lagos but am from Ondo State. Apart from music, I am a car dealer and also a realtor, all under the brand Package Aoc Global System Limited. It’s a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack; that’s my life’s philosophy.

Where do you see Package AOC in 5 years?
I see myself becoming an integral part of the entertainment industry in the country, I wouldn’t even mind the world at large. With God, all things are definitely possible. My team and I will definitely put in efforts to archive this.

Who are your allies in the industry?
I got a great relationship with a lot of A-list artists. It gets better every day. In the entertainment industry, it is very important to have a good fruitful relationship with a lot of people.
