As part of its effort towards improving the teaching of science subjects in schools, Dufil Prima Foods Plc. recently donated different science laboratory equipment to Mainland Senior High School, Jibowu, Lagos.

The donation, which took place at the school premises was witnessed by the Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe, Oba Owolabi Adeniyi; students, parents, teachers, as well as members of the community.

Presenting the equipment, the company’s Group Public Relations and Events Manager, Tope Ashiwaju, disclosed that the donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative tailored towards education and community development, aside complementing government’s efforts in equipping schools with instructional materials to enhance teaching/learning.

Ashiwaju revealed that the company has instituted a scholarship scheme for students of remarkable educational achievement from secondary school to Masters’ degree level and implored the students to take advantage of the opportunity.

Lagos State Director of Projects Education, District 4, Mrs. Bolarinwa Folashade, who represented the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary for Education, District 4, said, “with the donation, the school laboratory would be one of the best in the community.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the school principal, Mr Ayodele Odupe, expressed appreciation to the company, saying the gesture would go a long way to change the face of science education in the school. He noted that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of education, and advised other organisations to emulate the food company.
