NOLLYWOOD is opening the New Year on a good note. With a new movie, Love Is In The Hair, the Nigerian motion picture industry is set to record one of its major box office hits in 2016.

Love Is In The Hair, a rom-com from one of the best producers in the country, Emem Isong Misodi,l hit cinemas nationwide yesterday.

Written by Rita C. Onwurah and directed by Ayana Saunders, Love Is In The Hair tells the incredible but hilarious story of Jonny, aka Twelve Fingers, who on a chance meeting with Doreen, a jet-setting executive, steals a piece of her hair and uses it as juju to charm her into falling in love with him. Unfortunately, Doreen’s hair is an Indian attachment, and the real owner – a middle aged Indian woman – comes after Jonny with the craze of a charmed woman in love.

Distributed by Silverbird Film Distribution, Love Is In The Hair boasts of a competent cast that includes Bishop Imeh Umoh, Uti Nwachukwu, Toyin Aimakhu, Okey Bakassi, and Funny Bone Chibuna. Others are Vani Vyas, Micheal Bassey, Omotu Bissong, Emem Ufot, Funky Mallam, and Obioma Beulah.

According to Emem Isong, rather than be premiered, the film will go straight to cinemas across the country this weekend. “Yes, we are opening the New Year with a surprise package. Love Is In The Hair is a never seen kind of film in this clime. You cannot compare it to any other film. It is a comedy, quite funny and hilarious. It will keep you laughing all through. I can assure movie goers that Love Is In The Hair will worth their time and money,” she assures.

While the film’s executive producer is Africa Magic, Patrick Namani did the screenplay and Chiji Vivian ably assisted him. Tom Robson was Director of Photography, Awolabi Gbade anchored sound, and Daniel Tom edited the film.
