Abisuga, the talent behind Spring Stitches, a sustainable clothing brand founded in 2016, expresses her commitment to celebrating cultural heritage and promoting inclusivity, which is evident in every collection she creates.

In 2022, she launched the Afro-Fusion Collection, a series of handmade designs that seamlessly merge contemporary fashion with traditional African aesthetics.

Drawing inspiration from the African concept of Sankofa, which means “go back and fetch it”, Spring Stitches used these masterpieces to emphasise the importance of embracing and maintaining cultural customs while evolving with modern trends.

Notable for its elegant designs that accentuate the female form, the Fusion-Fashion Collection focuses on distinctively patterned fabrics. Each piece reflects the wearer’s personality, style, and taste. One such is the Arinola dress, made from green Ankara fabric, symbolising the richness of African soil. Similarly, the Ife jumpsuit combines comfort and style, crafted from high-quality Ankara and organza, while the Nwamaka dress showcases sophistication with unique sleeve designs and lace detailing.

Altogether, this collection is an ensemble of five distinct dresses but for the sake of this review, we have limited our scope to only three: the Anita, Eniola and Arinola dresses.
