Finally, Cobhams talks  ‘For You’ album

Having made hits upon hits for himself and other notable Nigerian artistes, multi-instrumentalist and music producer Cobhams Asuquo is therefore no stranger in the country’s music industry. Particularly, his classic single Ordinary Peopleremains an evergreen production.
  
Though his brand of music has since gained popularity across the nation and beyond, not many are aware that the visually impaired singer is yet to release an album; it has been singles all the way. So, this year, Asuquo has given lovers of good music something to look forward to with the announcement of plans to release his first album as a performing artiste.
  
Entitled For You, the new work, according to the versatile artiste, will be released at an exclusive album launch concert billed for March 12 in Lagos. A 14-track album, album, which was written and produced by the artiste himself, will feature some of his hits singles, as well as fresh recordings.

  
Just recently, the talented songwriter and singer, shared a creative skit of him driving a Range Rover where he announced to fans across the world, the impending release of the album after five years of writing and recording. The video became a big viral sensation and the news of his debut album has been well received by fans and colleagues.
  
Cobhams Asuquo’s creative genius has been felt in the career of artistes within and outside Nigeria including Asa, TuFace, Diamond Platinum, Bez, Omawumi, Angelique Kidjo, Waje, Vanessa Mdee, Dare Art-Alade, Banky W, Timi Dakolo, Shola Allyson among others. Meanwhile, the producer, who has worked with Bono on the One Campaign has also shared the stage with international acts such as Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, Common, Cold Play and Pearl Jam.
   
In a statement signed by the talented musician, he informed that album release will mark a new beginning in his already flourishing career. “My musical journey as a recording and performing artiste begins with this album. There have been a few times that I wanted to release my own body of work, but I didn’t feel that the time was right.”
   
“In the last two years, I’ve put out more of my own singles, and I feel the time is right for the release of my debut album – to transition from a producer to a performing artiste – and share more of my heart and story.”
  
The award winning singer further hinted that, “this will be the first release out of three different albums that I’ve been working on. Over the next couple of years, people can expect to hear more of my work and expressions as an artiste,” he said.
     
Born Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo, the Nigerian-born songwriter/musicp roducer/singer started his academic training as a lawyer, but eventually veered into music full-time to fulfil a lifelong desire. Previously signed to Sony/ATV UK publishing as a songwriter, Cobhams formed his first music production and label company Cobhams Asuquo Music Production (CAMP) in 2008. In 2016, he started Vintage Gray Media, an all-encompassing entertainment company based out of Lekki, Lagos with a focus on discovering, nurturing and exposing extraordinary talent as well as creating different forms of audio content for corporations and the media. Vintage Gray media currently produces The Cobhams Top 12 , a music countdown show aimed at showcasing the best new music releases from both famous and upcoming artistes. 
   
Over the years, Cobhams has built a name that is synonymous with versatility, musicianship and high-quality in the Nigerian music industry. He is internationally known for his musical collaboration with Nigerian soul sensation ASA with whom he co-wrote and went on to produce her award-winning debut album.
  
He got his production break in the early 2000s after producing Maintains breakaway hits, Maintain in India Catch cold and thereafter produced major hits with top artistes in the country.Cobhams is married to his teenage sweetheart Ojuola and they have a young son, David.
