NIMA Memorial Care Foundation has empowered hundreds of girls during the 2025 edition of its yearly symposium held at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, recently.
According to the co-founder of the foundation, Zainab Mohamed Abdubalik, NIMA was set up by her late daughter, Nima Talai Motorayalake.

“My late daughter was passionate about young ones, particularly, girl children and she understood the importance of access to clean water. She believed water is life and there’s nothing on earth you want to do without water. So, she wanted to provide clean water for the less privileged as well as provide access to optimum girl child hygiene during the menstrual cycle.

“She used to go to the young girls who hawk on Opebi to give them sanitary towels. She introduced me to them before her demise three years ago. Every Friday she provides drinking water for everybody that comes to the house to pick up bags of sachet water.

“We also provided boreholes in some communities before her demise and we’re still doing it. We go to different states where water is needed. The next place we’re going back to is Kwara State, where water is highly needed. So, we’ve done about 23 boreholes from when she was alive till date.

“This symposium is in her remembrance, Nima lives on, and that’s my take. It gives me solace to continue her name going and to also carry on looking after the less privileged, the young children, the youths through education. She also used to go to orphanage homes to teach them reading ethics every Saturday. We also take sanitary towels to some schools. During her time, she had a shop on Oduduwa where she picked girls, empowered Them, trained them on makeup, hairdo. If they want to work with her, she pays them. If they don’t want to, she establishes them and they move on. We provide Education for the less privileged, girl child hygiene, and sometimes we provide for widows as
