Glitz, glamour at 2023 D’CEM Awards
The 15th Debby Classique Entertainment Magazine Awards, D’CEM Awards, recently held in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. was filled with exceptional glitz and glamour that thrilled attendees and online viewers.
The star-studded event kicked off with a glamorous pre-award night that featured a gala night, a captivating red carpet and an exhilarating award ceremony.
The memorable event, where icons of the entertainment industry were recognised for their influence and remarkable achievements across various award categories, was infused with musical interludes and the presence of celebrity anchors and actors, some of whom made presentations, including Omalicha Chucks, Jeremy Anderson, Martha Lucia, Laura Arbelaez, Tarice Nola Dame, Carolina Rodriguez, Kamilla Davis, Ijeoma Orji and Carisha the Diva.
Speaking after the successful outing, the CEO and curator of the D’CEM Awards, Dr. Debby Goodnews Silas, said: “We had the privilege of hosting exceptional individuals who not only made significant contributions to their respective fields but also to Africans, Americans and the global society. Their unwavering dedication, tireless efforts and exceptional abilities have had a profound impact worldwide, inspiring countless individuals and organisations.”
She averred that the recognition bestowed upon the awardees was a testament to their passion, determination and commitment to excellence.
“It serves as a reminder that with these qualities, any obstacle can be overcome and a lasting impact can be made in any field,” she said.
On the night that Sebastian Baron received a Humanitarian Excellence Award, the hall had the presence of high-calibre guests that included the representative of the Governor of Georgia.
Leaders of organisations from among the African community were also at the occasion, including the president of the Nigerian In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Helen Abosute; the president of the Alliance of Nigerian Organisations in Georgia (ANOG), Kayode Adekunle; Dr. Juliet Elu, Dr. Busola George and Dr. Ladan Zumunta, president of the biggest house groups in America, among others.
Among the dignitaries that received recognitions at the D’CEM Awards was the mayor of the city of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, who was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Other recipients of the awards include Prof. Emeritus Augustine O. Esogbue, Prof. Femi Ajayi and Dr. Obinna Olowu.
The 2023 D’CEM Awards did not deviate from its tradition of celebrating excellence, innovation and the remarkable achievements of creative entertainers, influential leaders and professionals.
This was reflected in the calibre of American, African American and African celebrities honoured. The honour roll included actress Stella Damasus, Omawumi Nzube Onyia, Monie Sutton, Mahogany Raspberry, Kiana Dancie, Bubba Amino Mercy MacJoe, Florence Onuma, Chimere Emejiobi, Mimi Mala, Margarita Vilvens, Tumi Oluyole and Daniel K. Daniel, who was the special Nollywood guest.
The occasion was lit up by an entertainment crew that included Ache Sule, Princess Ella, Donclef Ibo and Don Crucifixto.
