
The Excellence In Medicine Ladies Network (EIM) will on March 8, 2025 host the Global African Women in Medicine (GAWIM) summit, themed “Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Medicine” at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos
The Founder and Convener, Global Africa Women In Medicine (GAWIM) Summit and Excellent in Medicine (EIM) Ladies Network, Dr. Olajumoke Ladapo-Osinuga, said the event will also be in commemoration of the International Women’s Day 2025, underscoring the importance of empowering future generations of African women to lead globally.
The summit will bring together distinguished healthcare professionals, educators, innovators, and leaders from across Africa and the global medical community to discuss the challenges and opportunities women face in the field of medicine, as well as providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and inspiration to encourage women in their stages of their medical careers.
The conference chairperson is the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. IbiyemiOlatunji-Bello, while the keynote speaker is CEO, JBS Gerontology Center / Medicare Services In Nigeria, Dr. OlutoyinAkande.
Other speakers are Dr. Monisola Adanijo, Preventative Cardiologist and Social Media Health influencer; Dr. Lolade Adeyemi, Special Adviser To Minister of State for Education; Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, Special Adviser on Health, Lagos State and President of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Lagos State branch (MWAN) Dr. Funmi Ige, among other esteemed speakers.
She added that the primary objective of the summit is to inspire and encourage Global Africa female doctors to pursue leadership roles, build networks, and contribute to the transformation of healthcare systems.
According to her, the summit discussions will be centered on breaking barriers and overcoming challenges and stereotypes in the medical field innovation. She further said that the summit feature empowerment panel discussions, networking opportunities and a special tribute to the achievements of African women in medicine, recognizing those who have made significant contributions to healthcare innovation and public health.
