Young Nigerian artist Hellasine drops debut EP “Aquarius on the Road”
Nigerian artist Hellasine, born Daniel Hellasine Samuel, has released his highly anticipated debut EP Aquarius on the Road. The project blends Afrobeat, Afro Soul, and a variety of genres that reflect the 19-year-old’s eclectic musical influences and personal style. Hailing from Borno State and raised in Jos, Plateau State,
Hellasine is swiftly making a name for himself in Nigeria’s music industry with his authentic sound and independent approach.
“I create from the heart, so expect honesty in every beat and lyric,” Hellasine told The Guardian.
Hellasine’s musical journey began at a young age, experimenting with drumming and rapping during his secondary school days. “Every time I jumped in, I’d surprise everyone and bring a new energy,” he recalls, noting these early experiences as the moment he realised music was his calling. In 2019, Hellasine released his first single Money in the Bank, and since then, his passion for music has only grown stronger.
Despite the challenges faced by many independent artists, Hellasine remained undeterred. “I didn’t know much about the industry at first. All I had was a dream,” he explained. His determination led him to use his mother’s phone to download free beats and even dip into her business fund to pay for studio time. “That song never saw the light of day, but it was the beginning of a journey that taught me a lot,” he reflected. His commitment to creating his own opportunities has become a driving force in his career.
Also known as “The Aquarius,” Hellasine draws inspiration from African music heavyweights such as Joeboy, CKay, and Burna Boy. His upcoming EP promises a rich mix of Afrobeat, Afro Emo, and Street Gospel, highlighting his versatility and unique sound. “What sets me apart is my drive and independence. I don’t wait for opportunities—I create them,” he explained.
Hellasine has already performed at prominent events, including NIC Chilling and Guinness Carnival, but he is currently focusing on polishing Aquarius on the Road. The EP is a collection of songs that delve into his experiences with heartbreak, hustle, motivation, and personal growth. “It’s a reflection of my life, raw emotions, and everything I’ve been through,” he shared.
Although Hellasine is still new to the mainstream, his deep emotional connection to his music and unique blend of sounds make him an artist to watch. “I want my music to heal, to inspire, and to connect on a deeper level,” he stated, underscoring his goal to create music that transcends culture and borders.
Fans can now stream Aquarius on the Road on all major platforms. With this debut project, Hellasine is poised to make a significant mark on the Nigerian music scene and beyond.
