Society matriarch, Biodun Laja, has been finally laid to rest in Lagos. The funeral was well attended by eminent Nigerians across the country, who held the renowned educationist in high esteem during her lifetime.

Among the notable faces at the ceremony were Senator Daisy Danjuma, Kemi Nelson, Florence Ita Giwa, Erelu Ojuolape and Chief Alex Onabanjo. Others were Richard Kasumu, Saheed Kekere-Ekun (Saheeto) and Prince Bisi Olatilo who anchored the event.

The late Founder of British International School in Lekki, Lagos died last May in the United States (US). She was aged 69. Abiodun died after a back surgery operation. Survived by two sons and many grandchildren, Abiodun was the younger sister of Mrs. Kofo Olugbesan, a former top official of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), a prominent lawyer and businesswoman, and elder sister of Mrs. Olukemi Nelson, prominent politician and National Women Leader (Southwest) of the All Progressives Congress (APC). To Abiodun, education had always been a passion, especially the British curriculum, in which she was trained.

After running her school for 25 years, she took a bigger challenge to own a secondary school in the highbrow area of Lagos.
