Nordica Fertility Centre recently clocked 22 years it started out. And the founder, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi said the journey has been a mixed bags of feelings for the company.

According to him, the company has weathered the storm to not just afloat but expanding to not just other parts of Lagos but also outside Lagos. Ajayi said that over the years, the centre has been blessed with wonderful staff with some of them spending over 15 years already with the company.

He revealed that the centre has facilitated the birth of over 5000 babies through Assisted Reproductive Technology. He was optimistic that with new technology the success rate of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is going to get better. He said that a few years ago, practitioners could not tell the gender of a baby in Nigeria but now, they could. He added that egg freezing process in Nigeria has changed tremendously. “If we freeze 10 eggs, we can recover nine of the eggs.”

According to him, there are a lot of quacks within the fertility sector who are extorting couples who are ignorance. He said these quacks thrive because some Nigerians do not pay attention to health information and knowledge, which would have helped to counter the quacks narratives.

He warned young girls against drinking high content liquor and smoking cigarettes with high nicotine because it will negatively affect their eggs and fertility process in the future. He advised any who got married at 35 years and above should seek help after not conceiving six months after marriage.
