How Showmax is upscaling BBNaija viewing experience with exciting content
Hundreds of personalities and brands have gained exposure in the last seven years since Big Brother Naija returned to the screens due to the reality TV show’s content and viewership.
Although the BBNaija viewing experience was great, it got better with Showmax’s curation of exclusive content and the access they granted to Nigerians in the diaspora to get plugged into homegrown entertainment.
Unlike any other season, Showmax is taking the viewer’s experience to a new level with the introduction of multiple channels to catch specific areas of the show without BBNaija fans missing any of the juicy details on the offer.
In 2019, the Big Brother Naija Lockdown edition broke the Showmax live-streaming record to become the most-watched live entertainment content ever on the streaming service. “If watched back to back, the collective number of hours of the show streamed this season already adds up to almost 30 years’ worth of viewing,” Showmax said.
Interestingly not all the viewers are from Nigeria. While the country accounts for almost 50 per cent of the viewing hours, South Africans take a significant share, with 30 per cent, and another 15 per cent happening in Kenya. According to the streaming app, countries like Ghana, Botswana, Namibia, and Uganda also add to the numbers.
The spike in ratings is partly due to some of the unique BBNaija contents exclusive to Showmax, which fans can access all day with their gadgets across Africa, the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Unlike the lockdown period where people were home all day, life has gone back to normal worldwide, and Showmax has made provisions to meet the needs of its viewers.
For the viewers not to miss any experience and drama that happens on the show daily, Showmax has curated an uncensored Big Brother Naija collection with nine different content categories that share exclusive interviews, highlights, and analyses of the show.
With this content, fans of the show who miss a day can get a recap with the Daily Highlights. They can also catch up on weekly happenings with the Saturday Highlights.
There is also specific content that keeps the fans up to date with the situationships and other actions in the house, like the Secret Diaries, which show short diary snaps of the housemates spilling all the tea. The Head of House Challenge is also uploaded so fans can rewatch their favourite episodes and catch up on the games and the challenges they have missed.
Commentaries and exclusive interviews are also one thing that viewers have shown interest in, and Showmax is not slacking either with shows like The Buzz hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa. She gets to analyse and gist about events in the house with other celebrity guests.
The Eviction Vodcast with Elozonam Ogbolu also takes a deep dive into the adventures in the BBNaija house by having revealing conversations with the housemates after their exit.
The best part is the 72-day unlimited access to the drama and entertainment in the house via the main BBNaija Live Stream. There is also a channel for the Nomination show and the eviction show. Viewers see the betrayals, displays of loyalty, and more from the show as the housemate’s race to the grand prize.
BBNaija continues to be a fan favourite show, and with each season, Showmax continues to heighten the viewers’ experience, thereby giving them front-row seats to all the juicy moments on the show. Watch Showmax catch up on all you missed in this year’s season.
