Songwriter and journalist, Jim Donnett, has dropped his video single for the song Him, which is considered as a touch of fresh air that the Nigeria music industry.

According to the Rn’B singer, who graduated from the Covenant University with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, “Him is actually me starting off my musical journey; I wanted my first release to always be a point of motivation for me. Surviving in the industry is tough; there are talents everywhere. And because I’m human, I would definitely have those moments when I feel like it’s all been a beautiful waste probably because I’m not where I deserve to be yet. And so, Him is a self-reminder that my dreams are valid, they definitely will come alive and that I just need to keep holding on.”

On challenges so far, he noted that breaking into the mainstream is a tough task, having realised that the industry is not for the faint-hearted.

“I want to undertake new tasks that can expand my creative horizons and then execute working strategies that would properly advance my growth as an artiste and my music brand. Presently, the music market at home has a bias for certain styles. I want to be one of the new school artistes that will change such wrong perception with how I shall propagate my music business.

Of course, it doesn’t go without the short-term desires of winning awards, dropping an EP/album, recording new music, getting featured and shooting music videos,” he said.
