Karaoke show holds tomorrow
VocalChords Nigeria, will tomorrow host the maiden edition of its Karaoke show, aimed at raising awareness for the #EducatingTheNigerianChild.
According to the chief organiser, a former beauty queen and opera singer, Sandra Osamor, founder and CEO VocalChords Nigeria, the premiere edition is part of VocalChords activities of celebrating this year’s ‘International Day of the Girl Child’.
Osamor explained that the International Day of the Girl Child as an international observance day was declared by the United Nations on October 11, 2012, and it is devoted at celebrating the girl-child annually, with a global discussion on the need for more opportunity for girls and increase awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide in areas such as right /access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination and child marriage.
She said, “As an individual and a woman, I recognise the important roles females play in the development of any society, reason I team with some well meaning and notable celebrities that understand the challenges of the girl-child in our society as well as the rest of the world to celebrate the girl child.
“It is part of the pet project I had in mind while I was in office as Miss Ideal Nigeria. As a queen, I’m given to the good course of not just the girl-child, but also the less privilege in our society, with encouraging and empowering them through the little initiatives that will make life more better and easier for them,” Osamor added.
She explained that the event will be fun-filled as it pool together singers with different genres and style, while guests stand a chance to win a brand new Samsung Galaxy phone in a raffle draw and to sing along side their favourite faces from The Voice Nigeria, Nigerian Idol, MTN Project Fame, Glo X-Factor, and Star The Winner Is among other celebrity singers.
