The beautiful wife of Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Zainab, is not resting on her oars as mother to about 3.4 million Kebbi indigenes through her contributions in the health sector.

The trained pediatrician, consultant, and Founder of Medicaid Cancer Foundation earned another merit of honour from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), recently.

The award was presented to her by the outgoing NMA president, Prof Mike Ozovehe Ogirima, at the 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, for her contributions in advocacy for women’s health, with major focus in cancer care, establishment of the first high-tech radio-diagnostic centre in Abuja and subsequently, the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, known for creating awareness and funding diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients in Nigeria.

A champion of girl-child education in Kebbi, she mentors and sponsors various school programmes, such as voices for girl-child, nursing education, school health clubs (with a concentration on cancer and sickle cell), menstrual health, VVF, drug abuse and creative writing.
