The 2025 Oscars odds are out for Best Picture. See who the top contenders are and why Anora is the likely winner this year.

Even though we’re months away from the 97th Academy Awards, offshore sportsbooks have already released their 2025 Oscars odds.
There are odds for more than a hundred movies available right now. Their number is going to shorten once the nominations are revealed in January. When it happens, we’re going to see some big changes regarding the Oscars betting odds – they’re going to shorten significantly.
So, those who wish to bet on the best picture winner should do it ASAP. But which movie should they back? That’s what I’m here to answer. Let’s see the top five Oscar candidates that could win on March 2.
Anora (33.33%)
Directed by visionary filmmaker Sean Baker, Anora blends thought-provoking themes – forbidden love, social class difference, etc. – with powerful performances by rising stars Mikey Madison and Mark Eydelshteyn.
The movie is loved by critics, being 97% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with an average rating of 8.90 from 69 top critics. On Metacritic, the film has a 91/100 score based on reviews from 61 critics.
Anora has already won a number of awards, including a Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Best Picture Award by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. It’s also been included in the 2024 Top 10 Films lists of the American Film Institute and the National Board of Review.
This is your 2024 Best Picture favorite at most offshore sportsbooks and at +200, it’s an arguable steal.
The Brutalist (25%)
The Brutalist explores themes of identity through a post-war immigrant odyssey by a Hungarian-Jewish architect.
After surviving the Holocaust, László Tóth moves to America, where he tries to rebuild his life and career.
The three-hour and 35-minutes epic is a powerful drama that’s loved by movie critics. It currently holds a Tomatometer rating of 95% by the top 21 critics, as well as an 88/100 Metascore.
At the moment of writing, the movie still hasn’t hit the theaters, with the global release schedule for December 20. My prediction, however, is that it won’t be a blockbuster, but Oscar winners rarely are.
Wicked (20%)
While Anora and The Brutalist probably won’t be the biggest blockbusters of the year, Wicked might.
The musical fantasy film based on the 1939 film Wizard of Oz, and starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande was released in October.
Within the first two months of release, the movie has grossed over $450 million worldwide. It’s been battling Gladiator II for North American box office honors, but unlike Ridley Scott’s movie, Wicked is loved by professional critics as well.
The movie is 88% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Metascore on Metacritic is 73%.
Emilia Perez (+14.29%)
One more musical film has made it to the list of the top Oscar favorites. Emilia Pérez is a French film with an ensemble cast that was released in theaters in Spring before debuting on Netflix in November.
It’s already won more than a dozen major prizes, but the film isn’t as loved by industry professionals as the previous three movies I analyzed.
Sing Sing (14.29%)
The wrongfully imprisoned Divine G discovers a new purpose in life after joining a theater group in the notorious jail, Sing Sing. Alongside fellow inmates, he channels his emotions into acting as a method to deal with harsh reality.
The movie looks like a potential dark horse in the race for the Best Picture Award. It’s priced at +600, suggesting that books aren’t too confident it will actually win the Oscar.
However, the film is loved by critics. It’s got a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes by top critics, along with an 84 Metascore Universal Acclaim at Metacritic.
Who Will Win Best Picture at the 2025 Oscars?
The Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh rating by top critics has proved to be a great method to predict who’s going to win the Best Picture. Each of the last five Oscars winners had a rating of over 90%.
It’s a similar case with Metacritic – each of the last five Best Picture winners has a Metascore of over 70.
So, which of the 2025 Oscar favorites has the best scores at both of those sites? It’s Anora.
The film has the total package when it comes to risk-taking direction, unique storytelling, and incredible acting. The fact that it’s already dominating the award circuit only adds to it’s allure for bettors.
