Chijioke Franklyn Nwajagu, better known as “Jagus,” recently donated musical equipment and a range of art supplies to two charity homes as part of his “Early Valentine” initiative. His donations to SOS Children’s Village in Isolo and Open Arms of Mercy Orphanage Home are aimed at encouraging children to explore art as a creative and therapeutic outlet. The supplies included sketchbooks, pencils, pens, charcoal sticks, crayons, sharpeners, tortillons, charcoal pencils, erasers, and paints. Jagus also dedicated time to teach the children basic painting and art techniques in hands-on sessions.
As a self-taught painter and visual artist, Jagus is committed to sharing his skills with the younger generation. “Art is a powerful tool for self-expression and mental well-being,” he shared. “I wanted to show them the ropes by spending time teaching them the basics of drawing and painting.” Jagus hopes the donation will provide the children with a positive and engaging outlet, much like it did for him in his youth.
Motivated by the belief that “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop,” Jagus reflected on his own journey, sharing how art helped him stay grounded and away from negative influences. “As a child, I found happiness in art and music,” he explained. “I hope this donation will offer these children a similar source of joy and stability.”
Jagus expressed his love for giving, saying, “For me, the joy of giving grows each time I share with others.” He promised to make regular visits to the children, offering ongoing support and mentorship. Despite the current economic challenges in Nigeria, Jagus is determined to make this initiative an annual tradition.
Acknowledging the country’s economic difficulties, he emphasized the critical role of private sector support in community welfare. “In these tough times, it’s crucial for individuals and companies to step up and offer meaningful support to those in need,” Jagus stated.
Currently residing in Lagos, Chijioke “Jagus” Nwajagu is an accomplished Information Technology Consultant and a *SAGE Business Partner*. He specializes in architecting and implementing transformative Enterprise Resource solutions. He also is a Partner & Head Technical at Consultingbord Limited.
