M.A.D.E empowers students using music, art

As part of efforts to equip students in public schools for a better future, M.A.D.E project has designed a programme with empowered teenagers in public school using the power of music, arts, dance, among others.

The project is a mentorship initiative of the H2:14 global mission and aims to empower over one million teenagers in public schools by 2030.

The Project Manager, Ayomide Olofinjana said: “We discovered that Nigeria public schools needed a lot of support, through our research we noticed that 70 per cent of graduates in Nigeria are all from public schools.

“If we are going to do anything for school children in Nigeria, the best to do is for public schools students and if we have to change the narration of Nigeria situation then we have to change and impact the way the young future leaders will think so when they grow up, they will do better than we have done, so when we this generation are gone, the next will carry out the knowledge we have impacted on them through this MADE project.”

Speaking on the reason they chose music, art and dance, Olofinjana said that music is a universal thing, like a connector and attraction because everyone loves music which was the reason why they chose music not science.

She added that the project impacted not only technical skill but also life skills they need for the future.

“The vision of this project is to empower tomorrow’s leaders to create national and global transformation by investing in the future.”

A 13 years old JSS 2 student from Surulere Junior secondary School, Egwu Kelvin who participated in the project, expressed her gratitude, saying she has learnt so much through the project and feel so happy, glad to showcase what she has learnt from the project.

The founder of the project, Reverend Dotun Arifalo noted that the passion for the coming generation is the main thing that inspired the project.
