The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), has sent a message of condolence to the family of Chief Rachel Oniga over the death of the actress, which occurred recently.

Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, NFC’s Managing Director, in a statement, described the death of the veteran actress as saddening, painful, and a great loss not only to her family, film stakeholders, friends, and colleagues but to the whole nation.
According to Dr. Maduekwe, Late Oniga contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria’s film industry through her several screen appearances; so much, that she became a role model to many young and upcoming actors who saw in her, rare capabilities, impressive character blend, script interpretation, and delivery.
Maduekwe observed that Oniga’s footprints which cut across both English and Yoruba movies including “Onome”, “Sango”, “Chief Daddy”, “Royal Hibiscus Hotel”, and “My Village People” have left no one in doubt that indeed she will be greatly missed. The actress will be buried in Lagos on August 27.
