Rotarian Dr. Omowunmi Bakare, the newly invested 23rd President of the Rotary Club of Omole-Golden, has pledged to implement sustainable community service projects focusing on healthcare, education, economic empowerment, environmental protection and peacebuilding during her 2026/2027 tenure.

Bakare made the commitment at her investiture ceremony in Lagos, where she outlined seven key areas of focus for her administration in line with Rotary International’s theme for the year, Create Lasting Impact.

She said her administration will prioritise disease prevention and treatment, maternal and child health, water, sanitation and hygiene, economic and community development, environmental protection, basic education and literacy, as well as peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

According to her, the projects would be designed not merely to provide immediate assistance but to create sustainable benefits that would continue beyond her tenure.

“Impact is not just about what we do today, it is about what remains tomorrow,” Bakare said.

She said her experience as a physician, academic and humanitarian would inform her approach to leadership, particularly in strengthening health advocacy, preventive care and community health initiatives.

Bakare, who has been a member of the Omole-Golden family for 14 years, also pledged to expand the club’s microfinance initiatives to empower local entrepreneurs and alleviate poverty, while promoting environmental protection through recycling, reuse and repurposing.

She called on members to support the administration through prompt payment of annual subscriptions, active participation in club activities and the recruitment of quality, service-minded professionals.

Chairman of the Investiture Planning Committee, Rotarian Fatai Lasisi, said the club’s fundraising initiative was aimed at providing resources for its planned community service projects for the new Rotary year.

Lasisi identified maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, disease prevention and community health outreach, economic empowerment and vocational skills development among the planned interventions.

The clubs immediate Past President, Rotarian Adekunmilola Toluwase Adio-Moses, congratulated Bakare and the incoming Board of Directors, expressing confidence that they would build on the club’s legacy of service.

“Leadership is a continuum, and handing over the baton to such capable hands fills me with immense confidence,” Adio-Moses said.
