Actors Oreka Godis, Ibrahim Suleiman, Dorcas Paul, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and Jude Okey and others are among notable names that feature in the short film, Heaven Baby, which was released on Thursday, October 8 ahead of this year’s international day of the girl child.

UNICEF’s International Day of the Girl is celebrated October 11 every year and the theme for this year’s celebration is “My voice, our equal future.”

Produced by The Naked Convos, Heaven Baby is a film that tells the story of how a fragile bond between a young married couple is tested when Mohini, who secretly got a contraceptive implant after her wedding, has to choose between a thriving career she painstakingly built over several years and having a baby – the only thing her husband, Jaiyeola, has ever wanted more than marrying her.

The film is another milestone for The Naked Convos popularly known as TNC, which has transformed from a choice destination for young Nigerians to share their thoughts and opinions using articles and short stories to full-fledged content production and distribution company.

Heaven Baby is their second production of the year after the success of their gritty, dark drama web series titled My Name Is A-Zed. The film, which is set in the metropolitan city of Lagos, tells the story of fiercely independent Engr. Mohini Gbadebo and her best friend Dr. Anita Momoh in an obvious attempt by TNC to spotlight issues related to women, family and career.

Chief Executive Officer, TNC, Olawale Adetula and executive producer of the film said, “we set out to produce a film that would highlight the choices Nigerian women feel they need to make to balance their careers and personal lives because we felt there weren’t enough people talking about this.

At TNC, our goal is to tell original African stories and while researching story ideas, it became very obvious that many women in this part of the world aren’t brought up to know that they can have the best of both worlds, family and career.”

In Heaven Baby, Godis’ character Mohini ends up making a decision to which Adetula added “at the end of it, viewers will leave wondering if she made the right or wrong decision and we hope this will start conversations on this topic.”

At just over seventeen minutes, the film delivers the quality fans look forward to in a production from The Naked Convos.

Before its public release, Heaven Baby had been selected for participation at the First-Time Filmmaker and The Lift-Off sessions online short film festivals and it is in consideration for many more. Heaven Baby is now streaming on YouTube for everyone.
