Nigerian-German chanteuse, Oyin, has stepped out with an emotive record dubbed, Ijapa and Fairy Tales. On the four-track project, Oyin takes her listeners on an emotional ride through the life and experiences of a young and beautiful woman in Lagos.

On the EP, she creates a soothing and sensual sound. Oyin’s lithe vocals blend perfectly Pidgin, Yoruba and English, and merges into a refreshingly exciting fusion.

The EP’s lead single and opening track, For Life, is a mid-tempo and sonorous love song narrating the story of a deep and committed love, also the hope that this love will last for a lifetime.

Speaking on the track, Oyin told Weekend Beats: “I am an all-or-nothing kind of person. When I love, I love deeply and if reciprocated, I am extremely loyal. At the same time, life has also shown me that a love that we decided to go for and were hoping to be able to keep, is not always meant to last.”

Born and raised in the Western part of Germany, Oyin started to write songs and experiment with beats and sounds when she was a teenager. Nonetheless, years passed until she stepped for the first time into a professional music studio.

Meanwhile, living in Portugal where she had moved over to pursue a professional music career, she started to intuitively create African pop instrumentals with the technical support of a sound engineer. Blown away by her musical and creative composing abilities, he encouraged her to go deeper into audio production.

Being one of the top producers she was introduced to when she first came to Lagos, Nigeria, it is no surprise that Oyin and BlaiseBeatz aka OBAH linked up for the creation of her long-anticipated debut EP. Meanwhile having evolved into one of the highest streamed and requested producers for Afrosounds, regularly working with Afrobeats heavyweights such as Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, Wizkid, or Davido, BlaiseBeatz did not hesitate to put his name on Oyin’s first body of work.

Apart from her musical talent, her ability to blend in the Lagos scene and navigate the Nigerian music industry without any prior industry experience or the support of a music label has been one of Oyin’s remarkable moves. Oyin’s open, charming and professional personality is being equally appreciated and praised by fellow musicians and industry experts.

Considering her talent, personality, looks and determination, there is no doubt that Oyin has everything that it takes to become one of the brightest shining stars in the African entertainment industry and beyond.
