The Chairman, Ohaneze Ndigbo Socio Cultural Organization, Otto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Chief Emmanuel Ubah, has empowered 20 widows with N30,000 each.
The donor also gave cash award of N500,000 to the Proprietress, Save The Needy Foundation, Lagos State to mark birthday of his childhood friend, Mr. Emmanuel Ejike Igwe.
Speaking at the event, Ubah said: “My friend sent me some money and I have to support him in making sure that the widows are happy and when they are happy, I am also happy because happiness comes from giving to the less privileged and those in need.”
Ubah said even the Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos State has consistently used his resources to uplift those in need.
He called on Nigerians to always assist the needy in the society as all they have come from God, and they should not use it for their selfish interest alone or spend extravagantly but assist those in need, especially the widows, less privileged, orphans and those who are hungry.
Lagos State Woman leader, Ohaneze Ndigbo, , Chief Mrs. Eucharia Nwagwu, commended the donor for his benevolence, praying that God will bless him for empowering those in need.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Mary Okocha commended the donor as the support will go a long wayin improving their livelihoods.
Another widow, Mrs. Emem Samuel said the first money she received from the donor was used to pay her daughter’s school fees.
