It’s not really every day that you get two platinum-certified acts to grace the remix of your song, but somehow, Victony has found a way around it. Tapping the American rapper Don Toliver, as well as the global sensation Rema, Victony has resurfaced with a remix of his 2022 smash hit, Soweto.

Produced by Tempoe (Ckay’s Love Nwantiti), the song bolsters Victony’s aspirations of expanding his sound to other markets, especially in the Americas and Europe, respectively. The singer, who has netted significant notoriety as a melody merchant with his debut EP Outlaw, has been on a defiant ascent to the limelight since his pandemic-era breakout.

Born Anthony Ebuka Victor, Victony’s fame took a different turn when he survived a ghastly auto crash, in 2021. The 22-year-old musician was in a wheelchair for months. And it was during that time that he lived up to his name as a ‘victor’, scoring multiple new hits such as Pray, and the Mayorkun-hit Holy Father. Last month, the singer also announced his final surgery, and he went on a short recovery break before his Easter comeback.

With Soweto Remix, there is a different feel, especially within the song’s pace; it helped the featured acts to soar individually on the record.

While it drew from the record’s overall wholesomeness, it still maintained its initial vibrance with its hook ready to
join other evergreen counterparts in Nigeria’s music history. Already, the original song has netted more than 120 million listens, as at the time of this report.

Soweto Remix is out across streaming services.
