Rema’s Calm Down hits 700m views on Youtube
Nigeria music superstar, Rema’s music video with Selena Gomez, Calm Down, has now reached 700 million views on YouTube.
The single, which was released on February 11, 2022, as one of the lead singles off Rema’s debut studio album, titled, Rave & Roses, has topped charts in North Africa, India, and the Middle East, thus earning him a Guinness World Record.
It also charted in multiple European countries such as, Belgium, reaching No. 1 on the Belgian Ultratop 50, Dutch Top 40, and Dutch Single Top 100. In the United Kingdom, the song peaked at No. 3 and spent 27 non-consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.
Widely regarded as the biggest and most successful Afrobeats song of all time, a remix of the hit song with American singer, Selena Gomez, was released on August 25, 2022. It reached No. 1 on both the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs and the Billboard Global Excl. US charts, and peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making Rema’s first top 10 hit and Gomez’s ninth.
