It’s a new academic term in a new year, 2023, and your child should be ready to face it in a few days. While we count the days, what preparations are you making to ensure a smooth transition back to school after a memorable Christmas celebration?

Want a sleek appearance despite the heavy breeze of harmattan this season? A good sense of fashion is the magic wand you need, and this comes with a proper wardrobe that has seasonal outfits and fashion accessories.

The harmattan is a season in West Africa characterised by dry and dusty northeasterly trade wind, which blows from the Sahara over West Africa into the Gulf of Guinea between November and mid-February.

Often, the temperature is cold but can also be a combination of both hot and cold, which is why heavy winter outfits are not exactly an appropriate fashion idea. What then is appropriate? A mildly thick cover-up outfit that protects your skin from the harsh dusty wind of the cold and hot temperature whilst bestowing you with the elegance that stands you out in a crowd.

Harmattan Wardrobe Intervention
If your wardrobe has it all for the season then all you need is an appropriate combination to slay for all outings, be it corporate, casual or occasion. However yours is a struggling wardrobe, then harmattan clothing shopping intervention would be your fashion survival option for optimum protection while maintaining elegance through the season.

What To Wear
For men – There is a popular opinion that fashion for men is easy whilst that of women entails too many details that could lead to complication at the slightest mistake. This may be true, however, just because it’s basically top and trouser for men doesn’t make it less detailed. So it is not just about top and trouser but appropriate quality, and combination which is why often, men’s clothing tend to be more expensive than women’s because with them it’s about the quality of fabric used for their fashion pieces. For this harmattan, chinos or jean trousers combined with a long sleeve shirt or t-shirt, lightweight sweater or jacket would fit in appropriately. If need be, attach a men’s shawl around your neck just to be protected.

For women – What to wear or combine strictly depends on the occasion. However, the harmattan season is one that permits a mix of both casual and corporate clothing if properly combined. In this case, you can combine a jean or chinos trousers with a top and jacket. A long gown or long skirt and top is not out of place if the fabrics are not too lightweight. For casual, a thick fabric trousers or skirt combined with a sexy sweater or turtleneck top would come out perfect. You may also want to wrap your shawl around the neck.
