Maybe Wizkid is to thank for this unsightly trend that is catching on like wildfire. Celebs and non-celebs alike were seen donning berets of all colours.

Everyone knows that the fashion week is upon us and this year’s Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW) has delivered very interesting street styles as usual for our consumption.

Fashion week without street style is like a bird without its wing, the street style most times IS the fashion. Over the years, street style has become as important as the main runway show and we live for the off-the runway fashion moments as we are graced with the good, the bad and the truly bizarre. Now, this year’s street style has not been as fascinating as last year’s and this is most likely due to the change in venue. This year’s edition is holding at Eko Atlantic and is not as easily accessible as previous venues.

Three major trend alerts we noticed this year has to be first, the berets. Maybe Wizkid is to thank for this unsightly trend that is catching on like wildfire. Celebs and non-celebs alike were seen donning berets of all colours. Let’s hope this trend dies with the Fashion Week. The second has to be converses and running shoes. We don’t know who to attribute this trend to but most fashionistas and visitors donned converses and running shoes, pairing them with practically almost any and everything. The third one is the net, mesh and lace clothings. Now, we knew net and lace were going to be big this year, so, no surprise there.

However, the resulting nip expose associated with this trend (accidental or on purpose) is something that has been quite popular this week both amongst the runway models and visitors included, male and female. Let’s hope it is because of fashion week and has no intention of making its way into mainstream fashion.

We have put together some looks from two days of the week-long event for you to enjoy.
