Teni’s sample new single, Malaika, ahead of sophomore album
Afropop sensation, Teniola Apata, professionally known as Teni or Teni The Entertainer is set to rock the music industry and rule the airwaves again with her anticipated sophomore album, Tears of the Sun.
Ahead of the album release, the Uyo Meyo hit maker announced that she would be treating her fans to a brand-new single, titled, Malaika, which is the third track to be released from the upcoming album, scheduled to drop next week Friday, November 17.
Since its release on Friday, November 3 through Platoon, Malaika has been captivating the audiences, as Teni continues to solidify her position as one of the most unique and exhilarating voices in the music scene.
As the Afro-pop star continues expanding her sound in a celebratory style that is sure to resonate with fans around the world, and the fans eagerly await the release of the 16 tracks album, Tears of the Sun which promises to bring a monumental shift in Teni’s career.
One standout track in the album, Lanke, serves as a feel-good anthem and is produced by the award-winning Blaisebeatz, known for his work with artistes such as Wizkid, Davido, Asake and Ty Dolla Sign.
Other songs in the album include the megahit, No Days Off, which has already amassed nearly four million streams and has been recognised as one of Rolling Stone’s ‘Best Songs of 2023 So Far’.
Born on December 23, 1993, Teni who is the younger sister of Nigerian singer Niniola, released her debut single, Amen, in 2017 while signed to Shizzi Magic Fingers Records. She left the record label and signed with Dr. Dolor Entertainment the same year.
She started gaining prominence after releasing the single Fagrin in September 2017. She made her breakthrough after releasing the hit singles Askamaya, Case, which was later covered by Nigerian musician Snazzy the Optimist as Upgrade and Uyo Meyo. Askamaya was ranked 15th on MTV Base’s year-end list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks of 2018.
