Lekki Port receives two new pilot boats from NPA

The management of Lekki Port has taken delivery of two state-of-the-art pilot boats, “PC Jalingo” and “PC Nadiya,” from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Commenting on the significance of the delivery, Du Ruogang, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lekki Port, stated that the new boats would enhance the port’s operational excellence by ensuring smooth and safe navigation for large vessels in and out of the port’s channel.

Ruogang emphasised that the addition of these boats would strengthen the port’s operational capacity to manage increasing cargo volumes and facilitate smoother maritime operations.

According to him, this, in turn, would solidify Lekki Port’s position as a key gateway to West Africa’s trade network.

He highlighted the milestone as a testament to the NPA’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the concession agreement.

Ruogang also expressed deep gratitude to the NPA for its unwavering support since the commencement of operations in April 2023.

In his remarks, Lekki Port’s Operations Manager, Mr. Yang Xixiong, described the arrival of the two boats as a positive development and a crucial step toward achieving the port’s objective of becoming the leading gateway to West Africa.

Xixiong noted that the expanded fleet would enhance navigational capabilities, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels in and out of the terminal.

“With these boats, our pilots can better guide vessels of all sizes, improving safety even in challenging weather and sea conditions. The expanded fleet also means quicker responses and more efficient vessel handling, allowing us to serve more ships in less time,” he said.
