It is time to say a heartfelt goodbye to sitting long hours in the salon trying to get your hair done in braids, as braided wigs have come to the rescue.
We know how long it takes to braid our hair, sometimes using the whole day to get it done, so these wigs couldn’t have made a more timely entrance. These wigs have been around for a while but have recently become very popular, as more innovative styles have been introduced with a wide range of hair textures now available to choose from. They come in single colours or ombre styled if you want and they are easy to wear, re-usable and washable.
Esther James retails braided wigs at Balogun Market on the Lagos Island and she says they are not too expensive and easy to maintain. Showing off a variety of styles from box braids to million braids to even Ghana weaving, there is something for everyone.
The price range differs too. Wig braids done with synthetic attachments cost between N4, 000 to N10, 000 and she says it takes her two days to make. Wig braids done with human hair are pricier and they can cost anything from N20, 000 to as high as N100, 000 or even more, depending on the type of hair that was used to braid the wig.
Asides the versatility and convenience it gives to the wearer, James says braided wig is more cost- effective on the long run and easier on the hair as it doesn’t pull at the roots of the hair as direct braiding would. Boasting an array of styles, colour and lengths, the braided wig is easy to use and only requires clipping on to the natural, weaved or covered hair underneath and you are ready to go.
So, if you are tired of endless salon visits and the pain that comes with braiding, why not try a braided wig today? Several female celebrities have already jumped on the wagon and if you were not told, you would have no idea that those braids you are seeing is just a wig.
