Abia Film Festival: Ukeaja shines, Wins best picture award with “Slap of Destiny”
The Abia Film Festival came to a close with a bang as top Nollywood actress cum producer, Chioma Rose Ukeaja emerged as the big winner, taking home the coveted Best Picture Award at the just concluded Abia State International Film Festival, with her Movie “Slap of Destiny”.
Directed by ace cinematographer Perekeme Odom, the story was written by Jerry Okpan. The movie features leading faces like Ejike Asiegbu,Tony Umez, Nosa Rex and Mercy Aigbe. Other actors in the movie includes Florence Sunday, Felix Ugo Omokhodion, Fred Aminu and Chioma Rose Ukeaja.
The thrilling victory shines a spotlight on the rising stars of Nollywood and celebrates the best of Nigerian cinema. The Ikwuano, Abia State indigene came tops from amongst other movie producers who also submitted their works across different categories.
According to the organisers, Ukeaja’s “Slap of Destiny” was recognised for its exceptional creativity, dedication and story line briliance. They disclosed that the participation of Ukeaja’s movie Slap of Destiny added value to the richness of the festival.
“Your contribution has significantly enriched our celebration of the arts and culture in Abia State. Your passion for filmmaking inspires us and we are committed to fostering a space where talents like yours continues to thrive. As we plan for future editions of the festival, we eagerly look forward to welcoming more of your remarkable projects to our platform,” the organisers said in a statement.
The Abia International Film Festival in its maiden edition, held from December 20 to 22nd, and saw a huge gathering of leading personalities from the motion picture industry in Nigeria and África.
A versatile Nollywood act, Ukeaja began her movie career as a makeup artist in 2014. She produced her first movie “Nemesis” in 2017. She has gone further to produced many award winning flicks such as “Love Over Marriage”, “Unforgiven Soul”, “Heavy Heart” and “Zara”.
Her latest movie “Roza and the Kids” was released today (Christmas Day) via her YouTube Channel, Sparkling Rose TV and like other works from her stable, promises to be one that would be both captivating and entertaining.
The year 2024 will be remembered by CEO of Sparkling Rose Films Production Ltd and founder Sparkling Rose TV.
