After Ogechi, Boypee dreams of exploring new sounds
Fast-rising Afro-soul beat musician, Sopuru Precious known as Boypee says he is excited about exploring new sounds while staying true to his roots.
In 2010, while in high school, he started as a dancer and vocalist, though clear from the beginning that music was his true calling.
His collaboration on the hit song ‘Constantly’ with Brown Joel and Hyce brought him to limelight while the career-defining moment for him was the remix of his hit song ‘Ogechi’ featuring Davido.
Reflecting on his early days, he said: “I knew I was going to sing someday. I played songs often and always told myself that I would create my own sound.”
His transition from dance to music was seamless, and by 2015, he embarked on a professional career. His early experiences laid the groundwork for his unique style, characterised by an immersive blend of African soul and contemporary beats.
He began sharing exclusive freestyles and covers on Instagram, quickly garnering a dedicated following. His fanbase, known as “Chokowurld,” has grown exponentially, showcasing his ability to captivate and engage audiences through social media.
Looking ahead, he envisions his music evolving as he continues to grow as an artist. He’s excited about exploring new sounds while staying true to his roots.
On what’s next for him, the success of Ogechi has paved the way for more ambitious projects. He is currently working on new singles and collaborations that promise to push the boundaries of his artistry even further.
