Nigeria music, popularly known as Afrobeats, has no doubt taken the world by storm. Its infectious sound – percussive beats, catchy hooks, energetic vocals and melodic horn sections – have captivated audiences globally, blending traditional rhythms with modern styles. Beyond being a genre; the genre is a cultural movement that reflects Nigeria’s rich heritage and creative expression.

Given the above, Afrobeats superstar, David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido, thrilled the audience with the genre during the cocktail event in celebration of the United Bank of Africa’s 75th anniversary on Tuesday, September 24.

The bank’s anniversary was held during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The superstar delivered a spectacular and vibrant performance from his impressive catalog of classic hit songs including, Risky, Skelewu and Aye that saw the audience singing along.

The singer and disk jockey, Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, well known as DJ Cuppy, also made history as the first Nigerian to host an opening session at the UNGA. She anchored the session themed “The Summit of the Future – Youth Action Day,” last weekend, marking a significant milestone in her career. She energised the UN Assembly with her keynote session, captivating the audience and bringing a youthful vibrancy to the proceedings.
