IUK tackles drug abuse in new record
With a smooth singing voice, melody as bright as day, and a very reflective groove, fast-rising RnB singer known as IUK, has stepped out with another didactic bop dubbed, Hard Drugs Kill.
Tapping his industry mate, rapper Jchrizie, the duo created a vibrant song that preaches the evils of substance abuse.
On what inspired the song, the Lagos-based singer, said that a first-hand observation of a drug addict spurred him to write the song.
He said, “Last year in Lagos, I witnessed a particularly heart-breaking scenario where a youth in his twenties suddenly went nuts and began to display and act violently like a lunatic on a street. He was so restless that no one around could calm him; he pulled his clothes and even harmed himself with broken glasses, then he started running in such a reckless manner that he could have been hit or knocked down by any moving vehicle. It was confirmed later that the boy had indulged in the abuse of a hard drug with the street name ‘Colorado.”
He also said that he hoped that his song would help “tackle this deadly and self-destructive trend,” ravaging young people across the country.
